Star Technical Solutions (STS) have developed Ethos an ongoing monitoring and plant optimisation device for refrigeration and HVAC equipment, which identifies efficiency problems and can save plant owners thousands of pounds in electricity bills. It effectively measures the gap between how the plant is operating and how it should be operating and identifies corrective actions to reduce the gap.
Energy Savings
Ethos shines a light on inefficient plant operation and focusses operators and owners on energy spend. Often equipment can operate inefficiently for long periods before action is taken. Ethos will provide ‘insights ‘on how to save energy and will calculate the estimated annual savings from enacting the insight and also will track the missed savings if no action is taken. Typically, achievable savings are between 10 to 30 % with little associated costs as large investment is not always necessary.
Dashboard
The information is clearly displayed on a dashboard which is accessed via a web portal. This provides access for both STS and the client in order to view live data on plant performance and review graphs of present or historical data. The dashboard can be viewed on a PC or for monitoring on the go can be accessed via a mobile phone. Email or SMS alerts can be set up for when irregular behaviour is detected.
Install Anywhere
Ethos can be fitted to new plant or can be retrofitted to old equipment. It is a standalone device and no alteration or disturbance to existing plant operations is required. No internet connection is necessary as the device is fitted with its own 4G internet router.
