Bruce joined STS in 2014 after working in the design department of Star Refrigeration for five years. His previous experience includes four years as a design engineer for a centrifugal turbo machinery OEM and three years as a graduate trainee in the fan, heat exchanger and compressor market. Bruce also spent some time working on secondment as a refrigeration consultant in the AMEC design team in 2012.
Bruce’s background allows him to deliver the following key attributes; experience in the detailed design of a wide range of systems using a wide range of refrigerants, design knowledge of rotating machinery, a background in compressor technology, the ability to conduct complex thermal design and pressure equipment calculations, familiarity with all relevant codes and regulations, petrochemical & ATEX experience, a good understanding of all the required components for a refrigeration system and a good working relationship with a network of suitable suppliers.
Since joining the STS team, Bruce has advised clients on how to extend existing chill plant, retrofit remote monitoring systems and replace R22 facilities. He has written specifications to tender new facilities and complied maintenance proposals. Bruce has been involved in the feasibility study for waste heat recovery systems and proposed plant improvements for high value pharmaceutical and petrochemical customers. Bruce is most interested in improving the efficiency and sustainability of systems without compromising on safety or reliability.
